political theology

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything. We are in the busy season at the college as classes are wrapping up for the semester. It’s taking pretty much all the mental energy I have to get papers graded and complete other end-of-semester activities. I’ll be back to posting more regularly soon. But in the meantime, I thought I’d share this PowerPoint.

At Ozark, we teach a class called Issues in Interpretation where we, among other things, address contentious and contemporary issues regarding the interpretation of scripture. We cover issues like homosexuality, pacifism, millennialism, liberation theology, etc. It is really one of my favorite classes to teach. This semester, I decided for the first time to add a section on politics. This made sense given the fact that we had a national election this semester, and politics has become a bit of a national obsession in recent years. It seemed fitting that we take some time as students training for ministry to address politics from the perspective of a biblically shaped worldview. The PowerPoint was one of the things that I used to help me in this section. Without any context, some of the slides will require more explanation in order to fully make sense. But nevertheless, I’ve decided to share.
